Learning...

We're learning. All of us. Holden's learning how to spell and read. Michael's learning how to deal with an over-tired spouse. Iona's learning, well, Iona's learning everything! And I'm learning that every day is full of change and love and challenges.

Holden can spend all morning learning with her felt board. I recently cut out the alphabet for her so we could begin making words. She spelled cat all by herself and was quite proud.

On a side note. The above photo is what Holden does when I tell her I'm going to take her picture.
The below photo is what she does when I tell her to smile.
I really can't decide which is better.  :)

Iona's still a bit too small for this toy but with a little help from her sister (at least she says she's helping) she enjoyed learning how the different components spin and dazzle.

No, I don't think her eyes can get any wider.

There was a much appreciated break in the rain this afternoon so we ran outside to enjoy it!
Holden got this snazzy bike for Christmas, but learning to ride it is a slow process. She seems to get frustrated easily and doesn't quite understand the meaning of 'practice'. Today she did well though and regardless, she looks wonderful in her helmet!

Just in case you're wondering, this is what's called a balance bike. It has no pedals. It is designed to teach the first step of bike riding--balance. I wish I had one.

Iona came outside also to watch her sister. She loves to watch Holden. But today she wasn't too impressed with the bike riding lesson.

Wait for it...

There!

Or maybe she's just concentrating. She's always learning...
