We like a good party! Holden especially likes parties. What's not to like really? There are games, cake, balloons, cake, presents, friends, cake and uh, did I mention cake? She has a bit of a sweet tooth. I'm sure she gets that from her daddy. Anyway, yes, we like parties and we've been to a few these past couple weeks. Including yesterday's birthday party for Sheryl, Iona's Godmother!
Here are a couple pictures of Sheryl and Terry at Iona's baptism in December.
Looking back, she was so tiny.
This picture was taken yesterday at Sheryl's birthday party. My how she's grown! (Iona, not Sheryl)
To prepare for the party the girls posed for a picture that Holden then incorporated into a birthday card she made for Sheryl. Iona looks stunned probably because Daddy is using a horse puppet to try and get them to smile at the camera and as you can see it only halfway worked.
Saturday mornings are often slower paced, which translates to either pancakes or waffles.
Holden loves to cook and she's pretty good at it too.
I didn't get any pictures of the finished product because I was too busy enjoying my syrup-soaked waffle to bother with the camera. But I did snap this photo out the dining room window after I finished. This is of the house across the street from us, where we see this seagull perched on their chimney every day. We like to think it's the same one and Holden has declared it's a "she" and that she's warming her toes. Even when there's smoke trailing all around her, she sits comfortably on their chimney top.
Back to how much we like a good party. So, today the local library held a party to celebrate its 100th year. Holden is a bit of a library connoisseur. She's been to at least seven libraries that I can remember and I'm happy to report her favorite one is our local library located only a few miles away! They have some great programs for children and a huge section just for them, filled with not only books but puzzles, games, and comfy places to sit. Today she was thrilled to find this much loved place transformed with party decor and birthday treats! Yes, cake! And cupcakes! And cookies!
Books and treats combined--her dream come true!
And yes, Iona attended also but she is absent from the photos since I was wearing her in the Ergo carrier. She took a nice nap while we partied.
Yes it does look as though Daddy is having to restrain Holden from attacking the cake. And in fact, this is true. We were both worried she'd try the one finger taste test when no one was looking.
We saw the gleam in her eye. :)
In the children's section she found a cake bigger than our car! And balloons the same color as our car!
And then there were cupcakes! Oh my! She knows how to really savor the frosting.
Our Party Queen!
