It was a beautiful sunny day here on Fidalgo Island, so we spent the morning at our favorite place--the beach! No matter that it was only 40 degrees outside, it was still wonderful. And we have so many beaches to choose from; I suppose that comes with living on an island. Anyway, today we chose a beach that also has a playground so it was really the best of both worlds. Iona spent the morning napping, first in her carseat and then in the carrier as Daddy wore her.
We were happily surprised to meet up with some dear friends that we had actually called to invite along, but they weren't home when we called--now we know where they were! It's not so unusual that we would run into them unplanned, as that is how we met them so many years ago, while we were on a walk with baby Holden. Since then we have been getting together with this family for playdates at the beach. They have a son, Miles, who is just a little older than Holden and another son, who is just a bit older than Iona. As you can see, Holden very much enjoys her time with these brothers!
They happily played on the slides for over an hour!
Once on the beach, Holden willingly shared her toys.
The boys were excited to find dinosaurs, and other animal figurines, in her beach bag.
Drawing or digging...not sure.
Burying the hippo. What did the hippo do to deserve this? We will never know.
Neither one has any fear of jumping right into the Salish Sea!
Needless to say we had to empty their boots of saltwater when we got to the car.
(On a side note: Thanks Carrie for Holden's wonderful hat! She calls it her alien hat. We think it may have been for Iona but it was a bit big and Holden loves it!)
